Week of May 28, 2017

Work to remove the remaining portion of the sound wall along the northbound I-5 Florence Avenue on-ramp, adjacent to Longworth Avenue, is ongoing. Once the sound wall removal operation is completed, crews will immediately begin work to construct the new sound wall. A privacy fence has been installed along Longworth Avenue, adjacent to northbound I-5 freeway. This work will be conducted weekdays, between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Please be advised, this work may be loud and disruptive due to concrete demolition and removal, equipment noise, sound wall construction activities and truck back-up alarms.

Next week crews will begin drilling CIDH (cast in drilled hole) piles along northbound I-5, in order to prepare the foundation for the new soundwall adjacent to Longworth Avenue. This operation will be conducted weekdays, between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

On Tuesday night, May 30, crews will continue nighttime demolition activity to remove the old Pioneer Boulevard bridge at I-5 freeway. This work will be ongoing at night through approximately Wednesday, June 7.

Please be advised this work may be loud and disruptive. While demolition work is being conducted, Pioneer Boulevard will be closed to all traffic in both directions, between Imperial Highway and Crewe Street, nightly, Sunday through Thursdays, between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. The northbound I-5 Pioneer Boulevard on-ramp will also be closed nightly while this work is completed. The closure is shown in red on the map below. Motorists will be directed to follow the detour routes highlighted in green, to bypass the closure area. This information can also be found on the project Google map.

Pile driving activity along I-5 at Pioneer Boulevard is ongoing; this work will be conducted weekdays between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. and will be ongoing intermittently for approximately three months. Please be advised this work may be loud and disruptive due to equipment noise, vibration, and pounding related to pile driving activity.

As crews work on Imperial Highway, Norwalk Boulevard and Pioneer Boulevard bridges at I-5, one lane in each direction will be closed on each street (at I-5) during the daytime, between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

At 7 a.m. on Friday, June 2 crews will begin work to reconstruct the sidewalk on N. Firestone Boulevard, between Rosecrans Avenue and Markdale Avenue. The sidewalk in this area, shown on the map below in red, will be closed for the duration of this work and there will be no pedestrian access while crews reconstruct the sidewalk to match the new street alignment. This work will be ongoing for approximately three months.

Rosecrans Avenue may be closed to all through traffic (motorists and pedestrians) in both directions underneath I-5, Monday through Fridays between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. Nighttime closures on Rosecrans Avenue will continue intermittently for the next six months. For detour information visit the project Google Map.

All work has been completed on the Carmenita Road Interchange project.

Tuesday, May 30 through Thursday, June 1, crews will be performing work in the center median along northbound and southbound I-5 between Artesia and Alondra Boulevards. In order to complete this work, there will be partial lane reductions on I-5 and the northbound and southbound I-5. In addition, northbound and southbound I-5 on-ramps at Valley View Avenue may be closed between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. Motorists who wish to access northbound I-5 on-ramp will be directed to go north on Valley View Ave.; west on Alondra Bvd.; and north on Carmenita Rd. to access the NB I-5 on-ramp. Motorists who wish to access the southbound I-5 on-ramp from Valley View will proceed south on Valley View Ave., east on Artesia Blvd. to access the southbound I-5 on-ramp.

Pile driving and shoring activities are ongoing on the south side of Valley View Avenue. This work will be conducted weekdays during the daytime between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
